Margaret Harker-Smith built at a cost of £5022 15s 11d and supplied by as a Legacy of Miss M. Harker-Smith of Sheffield, she was 40’ in length, Self-righting, and the first motorised Lifeboat to be stationed at Whitby. She was housed in a custom built new boat house situated on the east side of Whitby where the existing Lifeboat Station is now located.
During her career at Whitby, Margaret Harker-Smith launched 117 times and saving 86 lives in total.
The boat was sold out of service in 1938 to the Chelsea Yacht & Boat Company, London
